ISLAMABAD: The U.S. Department of State has added a Pakistani group known as the “Resistance Front” to its list of foreign terrorist organizations. The group, which has ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for an attack on tourists in April in Indian-administered Kashmir. The attack, which occurred in the tourist area of Pahalgam, resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals and escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. In a statement released last night, the U.S. State Department noted that the inclusion of this group in the list reflects the Trump administration’s commitment to national security, its fight against terrorism, and efforts to ensure justice for the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
