DAMASCUS: Ahmad al-Sharaa, the head of the Syrian transitional government, has recently stated that he doesn’t fear the conflict with Israel; however, the interests and safety of the Syrian people and peace are of utmost importance to him.

He emphasized that, to prevent further devastation, he has chosen the path of reforms.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern about the escalation of violence in Syria on his X account.

He condemned any form of violence against civilians in strong terms, stating, “I call for an immediate cessation of violations of Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.”

This comes after Israeli forces conducted airstrikes near the Ministry of Defense and the Presidential Palace in Damascus yesterday.

International media reported that at least one person was killed and 18 others injured as a result of these strikes.

The attacks followed Israel’s warning that it would escalate its operations if Syrian government forces did not withdraw from the southern part of the country.
