TEHRAN: Abdullah Hassanzadeh, the police chief of Sari, has reported the arrest of 221 Afghan migrants who were residing in the city without legal permits.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with various security agencies and with judicial coordination, leading to the identification and apprehension of individuals in their hideouts.
Officials have urged Iranian citizens to refrain from employing undocumented migrants, warning that legal action will be taken against violators.
Iranian media have reported that the residence and employment of illegal migrants in the region are prohibited, and employers who violate these regulations will face legal consequences.
This comes amid a recent escalation in Iran’s efforts to deport Afghan migrants. Reports indicate that approximately 50,000 Afghan migrants are expelled from Iran on average each day.
Simultaneously, some returning migrants have complained about experiences of violence, verbal abuse, and confiscation of property by Iranian security forces.
