ISLAMABAD: Officials in Balochistan, Pakistan, reported on Friday that armed individuals stopped a bus traveling from Quetta to Lahore, forcibly removed at least nine passengers, and shot them dead.
The incident occurred near the city of Zhob in northern Balochistan.
The attackers stopped the bus, selectively targeted nine individuals, and opened fire on them.
Naweed Alam, a senior official in Zhob, stated that the assailants shot at the passengers after forcing them out of the vehicle.
The spokesperson for the Balochistan provincial government condemned the attack and called them as a terrorist act.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far; however, Pakistani officials have often attributed such incidents to “Indian agents,” a claim that India has denied.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident, vowing to confront terrorists with full strength and avenge the victims’ blood.
He stated, “With determination, unity, and strength, we will fight against the scourge of terrorism and eradicate it completely.”
