KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S.
Special Representative for Afghanistan, stated on his X that Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. military base in Qatar was symbolic and did not cause harm to anyone.
He noted that Iran continues to focus on maintaining conflict in the region, with its attention directed towards calculated responses against the U.S.
Khalilzad’s comments come in the wake of Iran targeting the large U.S. base in Qatar with missile strikes on Monday night.
Iran claims to have completely destroyed the base, while Qatar asserts that it successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense issued a statement confirming that it intercepted the missiles aimed at the Al Udeid base, ensuring that no damage occurred.
The statement also emphasized that Qatari airspace and territory are secure and that its air force is prepared to counter any threats.
