TEL AVIV: Following Israel’s recent sudden attacks on Iran, representatives of a number of countries during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council warned that Israel’s actions in the Middle East are pushing the region towards a “nuclear catastrophe.”
Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya condemned Israel’s strikes on Iran, calling them a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s representative, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, described Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israel as a rightful defense and criticized Israel for its attacks during the peace negotiation process. He characterized Israel’s actions as morally unjustifiable and a breach of international law.
Chinese representative Fu Kang expressed concerns, stating that Israel has crossed a red line and that its actions are causing significant alarm in the Middle East.
Iran’s permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, referred to Israel’s recent attacks as “brutal and inhumane,” emphasizing that they were a blatant aggression against Iran.
Following the attacks, Iran launched dozens of missiles towards Israel last night, with reports indicating that some hit key buildings in the capital.
