TEHRAN: A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed to improve the living conditions of vulnerable individuals and provide new opportunities for them, Iranian media reported.
The MoU includes support programs not only for Afghan children but also for Afghan women. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has highlighted the challenges faced by women with large families in raising their children.
The signing of the agreement comes amid ongoing complaints from Afghan migrants in Iran about mistreatment.
Simultaneously, the Iranian government has announced that approximately four million Afghan migrants are living in the country without valid documents and must leave Iran by July 6,
2025. However, the economic crisis, widespread unemployment, and lack of basic services in Afghanistan complicate safe returns and increase the risk of a new humanitarian crisis.
