GHAZNI: The Taliban have sentenced Sulaiman Rahel, the director of “Khoshal” Radio in Ghazni province, to three months in prison.

The Afghanistan Journalists Center, in a statement on Wednesday, condemned this decision and called it unjust.

According to a local source from the center, the Ghazni Primary Court sentenced Rahel to three months in prison in a closed session a few days ago on charges of anti-Taliban propaganda. This sentence also includes his previous detention period.

The source indicates that the Taliban’s intelligence apprehended Sulaiman Rahel on

May 15 of this year.

He had previously referred to the economic issues and poverty faced by the people in his Facebook posts.

The source further notes that the Taliban consider the reflection of people’s problems as incitement of public sentiment and propaganda against their administration. The Taliban have not yet commented on this matter.
