Trump Warns Netanyahu Against Threatening Iran Negotiations

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call to refrain from any actions that could jeopardize U.S.-Iran negotiations over a new nuclear agreement.

Senior U.S. officials are concerned about the possibility of Israel attacking Iranian nuclear facilities or taking actions that might undermine the negotiations.

Trump emphasized to Netanyahu, following the deaths of Israeli embassy staff in Washington, that while military options remain on the table, he prefers to seek a diplomatic solution first.

Some U.S. officials worry that Netanyahu might order an attack without Trump’s approval.

Kristi Noem, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, has conveyed Trump’s message to Netanyahu regarding the need to avoid actions that could weaken the negotiations.

Noem stated that Trump does not intend to prolong discussions and will decide within a few days.

Israel is reportedly prepared for a swift attack on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations fail.

Iranian and U.S. delegations have recently concluded their fifth round of negotiations in Rome, reporting limited progress.
