TEHRAN: The Taliban embassy in Tehran has announced a temporary halt to the issuance and renewal of passports and legal documents.
According to a statement on the embassy’s official X page, the services will be suspended starting Saturday, May 24.
Services related to marriage and divorce documents, birth certificates, and criminal liability waivers will also be temporarily halted.
The Taliban have urged Afghan citizens residing in Iran to refrain from visiting the embassy in person until further notice. The reason for this temporary suspension of services has not yet been disclosed.
Previously, some consular services at the Taliban embassy had also been temporarily suspended due to high visitor traffic and an increase in returnees from Iran.
This suspension may create difficulties for Afghan migrants who rely on the embassy for document renewals and legal paperwork.
The duration of the service suspension has not been specified.
