KYIV: Ukrainian authorities have reported that their border guards have detained eight Afghan nationals who attempted to enter the country illegally.

According to reports, these eight Afghans entered Ukraine through Belarus but were apprehended by Ukrainian border forces.

Investigations have been initiated regarding the identities of the detained individuals and the reasons for their entry into Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government has been increasingly focused on maintaining border security over the past three years and has previously detained dozens of illegal migrants from various countries.

Additionally, it is noted that the detention of

“illegal” Afghan nationals has been occurring in other countries in the region over the past decade.

Illegal migrants often make their way to European countries via Belarus.

These Afghan citizens are being arrested on the Ukrainian border at a time when the country has been under attack by Russia for the past three years, and there are reports of deadly explosions every day.
