KABUL: The Acting Minister of Water and Energy of the Taliban, Abdul Latif Mansoor, announced the commencement of the technical survey for the Zambar Dam in the Sabri Yaqubi district of Khost.
This dam aims to control floodwaters in the region and utilize groundwater resources.
The survey and project management are under the Ministry of Water and Energy, while the construction costs will be covered by a Qatari businessman, totaling 591 million Afghanis.
Mohammad Arif Momand, head of the Kabul Hydropower Basin, stated that the dam would stand 32 meters high and have the capacity to store one million cubic meters of water.
Also, he mentioned that the dam will irrigate 20,000 jeribs of land and benefit 3,500 households in the area.
