Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has stated that his country is prepared to resume direct talks with Ukraine without any preconditions.
He made the remarks during a press conference on Saturday evening at the Kremlin, saying, “We propose that Kyiv restart direct negotiations without any preconditions.”
The remarks come as the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its third year, with diplomatic efforts to end the conflict was unsuccessful so far.
The Russian president emphasized that Moscow is ready for a political solution, but the decision now rests with Ukraine’s response.
Previously, several rounds of negotiations between the two countries were held under the mediation of Turkey and the United Nations.
However, due to deep disagreements over the conditions for ending the war, these talks did not yield results.
