Washington seeks to establish interim government in Gaza

GAZA: Washington aims to establish an interim government in Gaza, led by an American official, Reuters reported.

The proposed structure would involve assistance from Palestinian technocrats and would continue the complete disarmament of Gaza.

Additionally, it has been stated that the proposed U.S. government in Gaza would be formed without the involvement of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s structures.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar in a joint statement on Wednesday emphasized their commitment to mediating efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The statement noted that these efforts would be conducted in close cooperation with the U.S.

to achieve an agreement that addresses the humanitarian crisis and ensures the security of civilians.

The Hamas movement, which has governed Gaza since 2007, accuses Israel of using food as a weapon in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
