KABUL: Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, has not allowed Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, to travel to Pakistan.

This is despite the fact that Pakistan had officially invited Muttaqi to visit Islamabad.

In a recent phone call, Muttaqi invited Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, to Kabul, where both sides discussed transit issues and bilateral relations.

Agreements were also made to address transit barriers and facilitate the release of Afghan goods at Pakistani ports.

This comes at a time when Taliban-Pakistan relations are being affected by accusations of Pakistan’s support for terrorist groups such as the TTP, as well as recent tensions with India.
