UNAMA emphasizes increased assistance for Afghan refugees
Roza Otunbayeva, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of UNAMA, during a meeting with the acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriations of the Taliban, stated that efforts are being made to take effective steps in addressing the issues faced by refugees in collaboration with the Taliban.
The deadline for the repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan ended on March 31, leading to the forced return of over 100,000 Afghans since that date.
According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees, the UNAMA head assured the continuation of assistance to Afghan refugees and committed to attracting more financial resources for this purpose.
UNAMA aims to work effectively with the Taliban to address refugee issues, she said.
